The Parachute Valley Senior Center is located at 540 N. Parachute Ave in Parachute, Colorado. The Valley Senior Center was built in 1980 and is approximately 4,812 feet of Club House space . It is owned by the Garfield County Housing Authority and is an integral part of Garfield County Senior Programs.
Valley Senior Center is not manned on a daily basis, but there is an answering machine which is checked almost daily. Feel free to call 970-285-7216 and leave a message or email at valleyseniorcenter@gmail.com. It will be delivered to the correct individual for your request. Senior Citizen Luncheon
The Parachute Valley Senior Center hosts a luncheon at 11:30 AM every Monday and Wednesday. Lunch is $3.00 each for those over 60. Reservations MUST be made by calling the Food Line at 970-665-0041 at least 48 hours in advance with your name, number of individuals attending, and meal site. If dietary restrictions apply, also provide that information to the Food Line. Cancellations are also made at this number. Reservations are required so that the appropriate number of meals can be provided to the meal site. No reservations means no meal!
Other Weekly Programs
Additionally, there is currently a non-denominational round-table on Monday afternoons after the Monday meal for issues relating to the Bible. Please call Bev Reed at 970-309-5985 with any questions.
Exercise classes are held on Mondays from 10:00am to 11:00am. Currently, Geri-Fit is being held, but the type of class varies from class to class.
Wednesdays are Pinochle Group. Wanna play? Show up at 12:30pm! Don’t know how to play? We’ll teach you. Excellent teachers available. Please contact Cheryl Pickett at 970-274-8338 with any questions.
Thursdays are busy with Meet N Greet from 10:00am to noon. Everyone is welcome. Games or conversations are offered, along with snacks. Please contact Nancy Stover at 970-274-1237 with any questions. On Thursday afternoon, the Happy Hookers meet from 1:00pm to 3:00pm for a couple of hours of crocheting or knitting, or any other fun craft. Lots of experienced knitters and crocheters to help with problems. Patterns exchanged freely!
Library
The Valley Senior Center offers an extensive take and read library for use by anyone in the area. No library cards or check out system. Book donations are accepted. If the Center has duplicates or triplicates, books are shared from De Beque to Glenwood or beyond with other centers, nursing homes or hospitals.
Medical Equipment
A range of medical equipment is available for use with a $10.00 deposit. There is no rental charge. We have crutches, canes, walkers (several types), wheelchairs (no motorized equipment), and toilet and bath necessities. Donations for medical equipment are accepted from everywhere, and shared as needed. For more information, please call Sandy Nolan at 620-450-5777.
